Perhaps there's a demand for Murray and the Leafs want to get him before prices start going up... Perhaps. |

Leafs should be worried about getting some quality D and less about tending. |

Frank Seravalli: “The Pittsburgh Penguins are believed to have one standing offer on the table for Matt Murray. The Maple Leafs, Oilers, Flames, Senators, Sabres and Avalanche are among the potential suitors for Murray’s services – a list that may soon grow.”
Be patient Jim. NHL GM's are a special breed of gambler. BTW I still think Murray can be a good goalie in this league, I just think it is time for us to move on. |

They were 30th out of 31 teams in save %. Their starter is about to hit UFA. |

Is it more important that the pens get a player or picks for murray? Anyone on the leafs who would fit perfectly (from a position and cap #) perspective?
Nylander is at 7M? Kerfoot at 3.5M? get hallander back? I may want hallander and my #1 pick back versus a player. Murray was at 3.75M last year. take that money and move it elsewhere. |

It depends on whether or not they have an ideal free agent candidate they are looking at. Getting back picks and prospects would work, if they ID a guy to spend money on. But that's a gamble |

Problem with SV% is stat heavily relies in team D. If Leafs give up lots of Grade A chances, that makes Andersen's SV% look like Garbage. Leafs 100% need to secure something for the future. Even if Andersen is resigned. He will be 31 at that point and would only have a limited amount of quality years left.
Murray woukd be a good pickup but I just cant see Leafs putting up a better offer than Carolina. |

They also gave up a 1000+ shots 5v5 over the last 3 seasons then a team like Boston.
🤷🏻♂️
And this year 1/2 our D wouldn’t have made most NHL teams with Rielly Muzzin going down, but lets just ignore this as it doesn’t fit your argument. |

Canes will just sign a UFA unless the owner is going to cheap out and try to get Andersen’s $1m in actual salary. |

There's no room to just sign a UFA. trades will have to be made. |

You are both right. The D sucks but at the same time Andersen is no spring chicken and he has 1 year left. If he decides to go to Free Agency whos going to play net? Jack Cambell? Leafs need a future goaltender and Leafs cant afford to get into a bidding war in FA for a goalie with limited Cap space. People always say dont worry, the cap will go up but you dont know that. I have said repeatedly for the last 2-3 years, you cant rely on the cap increasing because you cant predict when something is going to happen that cause the cap limit to freeze like COVID-19.
It is going to be tough to get a quality starter at what Andersen is currently making. All players are starting to get more and more every year. I expect this year due to the cap not going up you are going to see a lot of short term contracts signed. Especially among teams that play at the cap ceiling.

Murray needs to be traded to get someone serviceable back on defense. Carolina needs a goaler, Calgary.... Those are two teams with a need. |

Hey Feds91Stammer,
You do realize that every single trade offer you try to come up with on this site includes "Cholo"? If your putrid Detroit team doesnt want the guy, why would anyone else? Short of offering you Jack Johnson for him..... |
